Reuters - A Saudi militant killed in 2004 was due to have been the 20th suicide plane hijacker in the September 11, 2001 attacks, al Qaeda's media arm said in a statement on the Internet on Tuesday.

AP - Construction crews set off test explosions Monday at the site for the Freedom Tower, producing muffled blasts where the World Trade Center once stood.


Sept. 11 memorial to be redesigned (AP)

AP - When a jury chose a Sept. 11 memorial design from more than 5,000 entries, the panel praised it for the "powerful, yet simple" use of reflecting pools to represent the destroyed World Trade Center. More than two years later, nothing is simple about the memorial, called "Reflecting Absence," which was sent back for a redesign after contractors concluded that it could cost nearly $1 billion.

Reuters - Their training for war started on June 28, 2002, when they entered the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, Maryland. They would go on to become the class of 2006, the first to join after the September 11 attacks.

Judge rules against WTC leaseholder (AP)

AP - A judge ruled Thursday that World Trade Center leaseholder Larry Silverstein cannot force insurance companies to pay his legal fees related to litigation stemming from the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
