ASC Honors Former President, Rep. Duncan Hunter
Washington, D.C. – The American Security Council today honored its past President, Congressman Duncan Hunter, Republican of California and Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee. Hunter led the American Security Council from 1989 through 1991 and again in 1994. The ASC awarded Congressman Hunter with a commemorative plaque for “his service to the council and his continued commitment to promoting Peace Through Strength.”
Congressman Hunter has served his constituents of California’s 52nd congressional district for over 25 years. He is currently the chairman of the House Armed Services Committee where his status as a decorated Vietnam veteran, who served in the 173rd Airborne and 75th Army Rangers, makes him an invaluable attribute and resource to his colleagues and the American people.
Congressman Hunter was introduced by friend and former Congressman, Bill McCollum of Florida, founder of the U.S. House Task Force on Terrorism and Unconventional Warfare. Mr. McCollum served the people of Central Florida in Congress for twenty years, retiring from the House of Representatives in 2001. Today Mr. McCollum serves on the board of directors at the American Security Council and is leading the way as the organization works to further the philosophy of “Peace through Strength” in United States diplomacy.
The American Security Council is a 501(c)(4) organization. Their mission is to disseminate general information, in a non-partisan manner, in support of the United States of America's foreign policy, national security and international economic agenda. The Council, through public policy advocacy, will work to promote freedom, democracy, human rights and fair free market economics by emphasizing the importance of peace through military, economic, and diplomatic strength.
